I took the day off today so the kids could have their well child checks. I asked my mom to go with us because the last time I took Carter and Libby to the doctor together, Carter was absolutely wild! He had doors locked, lights off and drawers open. He was the type of kid I hated to see coming when I worked there. Anyway!
Carter had a good check up. He weighs 33 lbs and was 38 1/2 inches tall which is 50% for weight and 75% for height. He also seems to be doing well developmentally, other than potty training, but that is another subject.
Libby is, of course, sick. She started breaking out in whelts on Saturday. She started amoxicillin and prevacid last Monday, so I was not sure which was causing the rash. I skipped a dose of antibiotics on Saturday night, hoping that would help her. My mom called me saying she was covered in whelts at about 7:30p. That made me think it was not the amoxil, so I went ahead and gave them both to her again on Sunday morning. And what do you know, HAPPY EASTER!, she broke out again. I finally gave her a little benadryl on Sunday night, which is a NO NO for a four month old, but she was miserable. She has had a few today, but not nearly as severe.
She is doing well with her growth, despite all of the above and the chronic wheezing. She weighs 12 lbs and 2 oz. She is 23 1/2 inches long. They are both on the smaller side, but she is staying on her growth curve. So that relieves me that all of her sickliness is probably not cystic fibrosis. We are going for a swallow study at ACH on April 1st to see if maybe she is aspirating when she eats. I am not so sure that is what the problem is -- but what do I know. I am just ready for her to feel better.
I do know we had better watch out when she does feel better -- because we are not going to get her to shut her mouth. She is already trying to talk all the time, and be in everyone's business. She is just absolutely beautiful!
