Zoo Time

On Saturday, we went to the zoo. It was a cold, rainy day, but this is what we came for -- so away we went. It was worth the weather. They have an awesome zoo! Carter had a blast! The hippos were swimming right in front of us. The penguins were so close you could touch them. There was a sign not to, but of course I tried. It swam away too fast.

We were of course in awe of the giraffes, zebras and the elephants.

The monkeys and orangutans were cool. There was a baby orangutan who was basically putting on a show for us. He was in the floor wrestling with his mom. Then he was swinging from the ropes. He even swung himself into the door -- he was rubbing his head. He put a t-shirt over his head like a cape and was jumping around. He finally got tired and decided he needed to eat a little. Poor momma, I know the feeling.

Carter and Wayne looked at the snakes, tortoises and alligators by themselves while I tried to feed Libby. (see, I told ya'll I know that momma's pain) Carter saw two tortoises mating and was so excited to come back and tell me he saw two turtles fighting.
The drizzling rain finally went away, so it was a good visit to the zoo. And it only took us 3 1/2 hours to walk the 83 acre zoo! Have I mentioned how sore my legs were from yesterday?
