Still Here

Just in case you all were wondering, yes we are still here. Dr. Berlinski (the pulmonologist) came in Saturday. He said we would wait a few days to test for cystic fibrosis, because the results could be inaccurate with her still being so sick. He also said that she could have coughed and wheezed for so long that she had just possibly destroyed the lining of her bronchioles and that we would just need to help her breathe until that had time to heal. He told us to plan on being here for another week. He also said she was the boss(in terms of how long it takes to heal), which didn't we all already know that? Yesterday, we did a sputum culture. So now we are back on strict isolation. That just means that everyone has to wear masks, gloves and gowns when they come in our room to do anything. We are going to have another CXR this morning and we just did her blood gases again. She is much more playful, so that makes me feel good. The staff here has been wonderful. Everyone just thinks she is so cute, which didn't we already know that as well? Carter and Wayne came up yesterday and stayed for a while. Carter learns very fast. He thinks everytime he gets here, he should automatically get cheese pizza and get to ride the glass eluhbators (ie elevators) a thousand times. He took a nap up here yesterday. He and Libby were both sleeping. They apparently were having good dreams because they were both smiling in their sleep. It makes me wonder if they were playing together in their dream?
